Programs & services
What we actually do.
Diwan HQ ry is a registered non-profit association in Helsinki, Finland. Our mission is to strengthen the Muslim community by connecting the people who build for it. These are the programs and services we run in service of that mission. All of them are free to the people who use them, and none of them are funded by advertising.
The Diwan community platform
A free, invite-only platform where Muslims find each other and build together.
Diwan is our main programme. It is a community platform — free to use, with no advertising — where members share knowledge, organize local gatherings, ask for and offer help, and collaborate on projects that serve the community.
Membership is by invitation. We keep it that way deliberately: a smaller community where people are accountable to each other produces better conversations and more trust than an open network optimized for reach.

The Diwan Hackathon
An annual hackathon in Helsinki for Muslim builders.
Each year we bring Muslim developers, designers, and founders together in Helsinki for a weekend to build projects that serve the community. Teams form on the day, mentors sit with them throughout, and the work is presented publicly at the end.
The hackathon is free to attend and open to applicants from across Finland and beyond. It is how many of our members first meet each other in person.

Mutual aid and community support
Members offering skills, time, and resources to each other.
A large part of what happens on Diwan is people helping each other: a member new to a city looking for a community, someone needing legal or technical advice, a family needing practical support, a founder looking for a first hire.
We build the tools that make these requests visible to the people best placed to answer them, and we match members to each other where we can.
- check_circleMembers can post what they need and what they can offer
- check_circleIntroductions between members with complementary skills and needs
- check_circleSupport requests routed to members who have offered to help
Community projects
Helping members turn ideas into things that actually exist.
Ideas that serve the community usually die for want of collaborators rather than want of merit. We help members turn theirs into real projects — finding co-founders and contributors, connecting them with mentors, and giving the work a place to be seen.
Some of this work is built in public, including Diwan itself, so that members can learn from how it is made.

- check_circleMentorship and introductions from more experienced members
- check_circleOpen, build-in-public projects that anyone in the community can join
Want to be part of it?
Diwan is invite-only. Tell us who you are and what you are building, and we will get back to you.
